Many schools make a differentiation between playing and studying. However, recent studies have shown that play can actually be a great way to teach a child many things, from extended vocabulary to social skills.
Let’s look at something simple like playing grocery store. The children need to understand the concept of retail economics, the identities of individual products, the division of labor with someone minding the store and someone being the customer – all of these actions then teach them about real life. However, they are in “play” mode, and often times are not even aware that they are learning!
This type of learning for young children is the most successful and enjoyable for both the student and the teacher. When children “catch” the joy of learning through play it can give them a distinct advantage as they grow and advance to higher concepts.
At Petit Enfants we know and understand the power of learning through play. Our certified teachers take great pride in making learning fun and ensure that every student advances to where they should be for their age.
